Groundwater Guardian is a program sponsored by The Groundwater Foundation, a private non-profit educational organization that provides support and encouragement for communities of all types (cities, counties, watersheds, schools, etc.) to begin groundwater awareness activities, motivation to continue these efforts, and recognition for their achievements. Groundwater Guardian Communities can be anywhere there are people interested in groundwater!
To achieve Groundwater Guardian designation a community must form a local Groundwater Guardian Team, prepare and submit an annual entry form, work with community leaders to develop and implement Result Oriented Activities (ROAs), begin implementation of the ROAs within the community, and prepare and submit an annual report.
Groundwater Guardians for the Marshfield Area have received the designation as a "Groundwater Guardian Community" each year since 1997.
